Tutors Needed

I was at Douglass High School today, and one of the teachers told me that she needs a volunteer. She’s looking for someone to come and spend 30 minutes a time working with a small group of students (2-4) one or more times a week during her third period or fourth period classes (10:10-11:50 and 12:20-2:00, respectively). If anyone could come and help, please call or email me.

Thanks,

I just want to follow up here and express my gratitude for all the people who responded.

Joanne Hilton and her niece-in-law Jacqui Gibson-Clark volunteered to give some time one day a week to help these students. I thank God for them.

Additionally, people from the Bywater Neighborhood Association and Interfaith Works responded wanting to help recruit needed volunteers. As it turns out, Douglass now has a Tutoring Coordinator. This is in large part due to the efforts of my friend Pastor Robert Burnside of Journey 9th Ward Fellowship, but that’s probably a whole new blog entry for itself.
