Christmas gifts for children of St. Gabriel inmates

Christmas gifts for children of St. Gabriel inmates

This year the women’s ministry is collecting gifts for children of St Gabriel inmates.  We’re asking all our church members to bring an unwrapped gift for a boy or girl ages 2-10 and attach a label stating what the gift is.  Gifts may be turned in to Joanne Hilton or Shannon Dale, or left on the altar.  We need to collect all gifts no later than Sunday, November 29, 2009

Gifts are to be nice toys (not from the dollar store!) maybe around $10.00, for boys and or girls from 2-10 years old.  He said Basketballs are good for either boys or girls, and they like them a lot. You can even buy more than one gift if you like!

WE ARE NOT SUPPOSE TO WRAP THEM but we are suppose to put each toy in a clear plastic bag and label with B or G and put an appropriate age (like B-6, or G-5). You’re also encouaraged to send a roll of paper and a roll of tape for the inmates to use to wrap the gifts.

Thank you for helping us to minister to these families during the holiday season!!

I was at the seminary today with some students and pastors, and it set me to thinking. When I was in seminary, I dreamed of being in a church like Grace in a neighborhood like the 9th Ward, and I imagined us doing ministries like this one to the women of St. Gabriels. Thank you to OUR women for leading this charge!
