Grace in Motion

Many of you had the opportunity to enjoy the debut of Grace in Motion on the first Sunday of the year.

Grace in Motion is our new liturgical (praise) dance ministry, initiated and led by Gabby Johnson, one of our youth. Aisha Johnson, Gabby’s mother, will be the new adult supporting Gabby in the ministry.

While the obvious mission of Grace in Motion is to praise God through dance, Aisha and I discovered through the experience that it can also be a wonderful opportunity to  minister to not only the girls of our community, but also to their families.

We agreed that Grace in Motion should focus on the following goals:

1. Praising God through dance

2. Teaching about worship

3.Outreaching to girls in the neighborhood and to their families with the hope of moving them toward a saving relationship with Christ

4.Encouraging healthy bodies that honor God

5.Using dance to help build a confidence in the girls that is rooted in their identity in Christ

Grace in Motion will be starting practice up again soon so keep your eye on the weekly schedule in the bulletin… and be sure to invite any girl you think might be interested!

It’s exciting to see a ministry develop like that, and even more exciting to know that it was one of the youth that got it started (go Gabby!). I hope you guys can continue to post videos since we can’t be there to see them all in person!

(as a side note to Jenny, I’m pretty sure Sam is missing Eliza Jane…) :-)
