Day of Prayer and Fasting for World Evangelization

Day of Prayer and Fasting for World Evangelization

Sunday, May 23 is the Day of Prayer and Fasting for World Evangelization. Please set aside some time to make missions the focus of your prayers. Romans 10:9-15 teaches us that salvation is available to all who place their faith in the Good News of Jesus Christ, but before they can believe, they must hear. Before they can hear, someone must tell them. Even in the telling and the hearing, the Holy Spirit must be at work in our hearts for any of it to have an eternal impact.

This is where prayer and fasting comes in. Pray for those who have never heard the gospel. Pray for our churches that we at Grace and other churches will increase our efforts and giving to spread the gospel throughout the world. Pray that God will open doors for the gospel to reach people groups that have thus far been unreached with the message of Jesus. Faith-filled prayer is necessary for God’s work to be done. I encourage you to read about the role of prayer in evangelizing an unreached people group in Russia in this article from the International Mission Board.

This Sunday, we’ll spend some focused time in our worship service in prayer for world evangelization. Please join us as we seek the Lord’s face together on behalf of the lost.
