Food Ministry to the Bereaved

Food Ministry to the Bereaved

Hello Grace Family!

Many of you know of the death of Mr. Raymond Curtis, Sr, but I want to also make you aware of 2 deaths in the family of Miss Dorothy Collins.  Yesterday her son-in-law, Lucius (husband of her daughter Melonie Thompson) lost BOTH his mother and his brother.  As people have expressed the desire to minister to families during times of birth and death by bringing food, it seems that a ministry is growing up among our people.  It would be nice if we had people to bring food 3-4 times a week over the next couple of weeks to each of these families.  I already had 4 nights of coverage for the Curtis family when I found out about the Thompson family, so we definitely have PLENTY of opportunities for you to minister in a very practical and meaningful way to these 2 families.  If you are able to bring food to either of these families, please call me at 504-460-0255, or email me at starrynightsong@yahoo.com  as soon as possible.

I can tell you personally that when my family received food the weeks after Mia’s birth, it meant so much to us to know that our church cared so much for us and also it made life so much easier during a time of difficult transition.  Please consider being a part. It will be a blessing to both you and these families!!

Moreover, as this seems to be increasingly needed, please pray about participating in the administration of a food ministry.  Perhaps you could consider being on a rotation of people who are called on to cook for the occasions of birth and death in a family (or other needful time). We have some INCREDIBLE cooks at Grace!  Perhaps you could consider being the person who calls people to organize a feeding schedule for a family.  It’s easy and it’s a great way to help our people.  If you are interested in this VERY real need, please call me and let me know.

We love you all, and thank you for your time!
