But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ. (Ephesians 2:4)

Once dead, but made alive. Once broken, but redeemed.

The Scriptures teach us that the world is broken and needs a redeemer. At Grace we celebrate the truth that God has provided Jesus Christ to be the world’s Redeemer. Jesus took our punishment for sin through His agonizing death on the cross and purchased our forgiveness and freedom from sin. Seven hundred years before Christ was born, God spoke through the prophet Isaiah:

He was wounded for our transgressions; He was crushed for our iniquities; upon Him was the chastisement that brought us peace, and with His stripes we are healed. All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the Lord has laid on him the iniquity of us all. (Isaiah 53:5-6)

Jesus calls to Himself sinners who are tired of their lifeless existence apart from God and transforms them into saints who impact their world with new spiritual life. As we continue to grow in Him, we find Jesus gives us love, joy, and peace sorely needed in our world. He doesn’t eliminate all our problems, but His strength empowers us in the midst of those problems. Jesus said…

I have said these things to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world. (John 16:33)

Forgiveness, freedom from the power of sin, His ongoing presence in our hearts, these are the free gifts of God’s grace received by all who are redeemed by His blood. To receive this redemption, the Scriptures teach us to turn from our sin and trust Jesus Christ for our salvation, believing He died and rose from the dead for us personally.

Does this sound like something you want? Do you desire to be made alive in Christ? Then, Jesus speaks these words to you…

Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light. (Matthew 11:28-30)

We at Grace are just regular people who, by the grace of God, have received the wonderful gift of redemption through faith in Jesus Christ. If you would like to talk to someone about giving your life to Christ or if you have questions, feel free to contact our pastor Charlie Dale at (504) 810-7888 or Charlie@GraceForNewOrleans.com.

Perhaps you would like to explore faith in Christ more by visiting our worship service (Sundays at 11:00). Our church community gathers regularly in small group Bible studies to explore our faith and support one another. You’re welcome to come to one of these meetings. Whatever it takes, please allow us the privilege to share with you how we were once dead, but are now alive. Once broken, but now redeemed.
